UK media heavyweight EMAP today reported its first operating profit from its range of digital activities…Digital incarnations of its brands, including Smash Hits, Kerrang and Magic, made an operating profit of £3m for the year to 31 March, against a loss of £16m in 2002. Sales were flat at £19m but EMAP successfully reduced costs by more than half, from £35m to £16m, which helped it swing into profit.
