Start-up Admob has received series A funding from Sequoia Capital, the same guys who funded Google. Admob will use the capital to “support continued rapid growth, to expand sales and marketing efforts, and to accelerate the development of its Web-based products and services”. AdMob also added two investors to its board of directors, Jim Goetz of Sequoia Capital, and Maynard Webb, prominent Silicon Valley investor and former COO of eBay. Admob has taken a leaf out of Google’s book and is offering $20 of free advertising on its service to attract users (Google did the same thing, at least in the UK).
