Infoworld has interviewed Adobe President and COO Shantanu Narayen about the company’s future plans, and he sees a lot of the future growth coming from video and mobile applications and services. “We’re seeing a tremendous explosion of digital video, which we think is a huge growth area for us. And also wireless because creating content for wireless devices is very hard,” said Narayen. Apollo, Adobe’s upcoming multiplatform runtime environment which is designed to run Web applications using Flash, Flex, HTML, JavaScript, Ajax, and PDF, will also be “mobile-aware” — the idea being that you author something once and you can run it anywhere.
He also talks about a new service that Adobe is offering with DoCoMo called FlashCast, which is “a new metaphor, a TV-channel-like metaphor, which allows you to have, say, weather or news or sports or specialized channels.
