It was bound to happen that Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) and operators wouldn’t be able to keep up the hype factor around launches of the iPhone in every European market. On the heels of a bit of news in which France Telecom (NYSE: FTE) CEO Didier Lombard confirmed that Orange had clinched the France release of the iPhone, today spokespeople from both TeliaSonera and Telenor confirmed to Dow Jones (NYSE: DJ) that both were in active discussions with Apple for distribution in their respective markets of Sweden/Finland and Norway (via MarketWatch). What’s not clear is whether either operator would sell it in the country where it is not dominant. But if Apple follows its pattern set with O2 and T-Mobile and Orange, it will choose the operator leading by subscribers. Telenor added it would be unlikely the phone would come out with Telenor before the end of this year.
