woozy is a little bizy. ILike is limited to Itunes. I love the idea of the widget, in fact I've wanted to do it a long time ago. A widget that you can add to any social site, and when clicks shows others what you might belistening to either via playlist or songs that u can actually here partical clips of. Anyone want to help me do it right?

And you're right gary, myspace is a clusterfuck. sellaband is a great concept but…

the problem is everyone is trying to be everything in the online music biz. and it's going to be really really difficult to do that.

I've really really tried to get into MySpace, but I really can't understand why it is/was popular, as it is a mess of a site, and doesn't seem to add any real social networking…. instead it just seems to be a virtual noticeboard with millions of "add me's". I welcome anyone who can take the basic idea of MySpace and actually make it look, and work, alot better, and become a real tool for communication AND a decent noticeboard.

btw http://www.sellaband.com is the new wave of record company, where the fans are in partnership with the musicians.

As sebastian mentioned above, maybe apple should see this as an opportunity and work closely with facebook. Facebooks user base and current momentum combined with apples back catalogue and ipod's popularity can make both companies alot of money.

You know, iLike pretty much does all of that already and there's a handy Buy it in iTunes link (though I never clicked it so it probably just links directly to the song) as I'd expect any similar app including Apple's to do).

So why isn't Apple working with iLike more?

we've been filming about 5-10 bands per week for the past month for another site that plans to take on myspace as a tool for musicians to promote themselves, sell music and merchandise, organize fans, tours, etc.

they launched this week: http://www.woozyfly.com

the general idea is to offer tools that help bands do what they need to do to be successful. so the question is, what tools do bands want, who will provide them, and does the provider have critical mass to actually be helpful.
