SVG is lightweight, open standard, and is already supported by Firefox, Opera, and Safari.

I've speculated about this <a href="my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=223860">on my blog</a>. I guess will have to wait and see what happens.

I tend to doubt that either silverlight or the Apple sdk, (core animation notwithstanding, whatever core animation is. Maybe it's javascript.) can do what flash lite 3 can. I like your reporting, but if you are playing favorites to get on Apple's good side, it's difficult to think of your site as a source of 'news'.
