Hong Kong based VAS and Mobile marketing player Buongiorno (BIT: BNG) is rolling out their mobile advertising solution in India. We had earlier in the day covered mobile web usage stats based on Opera Mini’s browser data which indicated full web surfing to account for 77% of traffic (we all know who owns that market), that leaves 23% for WAP and .mobi sites amongst everybody including Google (NSDQ: GOOG). Besides considering almost half the traffic is directed towards as yet incompletely monetized social networking websites, one wonders how exposed the Indian market is standalone (Note: Stats are based on Opera Mini usage data and not Universe).
Buongiorno Group, which owns 60% of the digital marketing business in a joint venture with Mitsui, the Japanese trading conglomerate, has indicated that it expects the Buongiorno Marketing Services division to grow globally by up to 30% in revenues for fiscal year 2008. The campaign management platform is called B!3A consisting of modules including Ad Server which provides campaign creation; media planning and forecasting, multi channel delivery of ads and reporting. While Buongiorno claims to have provided Mobile VAS for brands like BPL, Samsung, MTV, Indiatimes, NEO sports, its an increasingly competitive space with the likes of Google, mKhoj and Admob battling it out for banner space on the tiny screen.
