Mobile advertising in India could cross Rs 500 crore in the next five years, according to one exec, though this is only one company prediction, based on whatever data they have, so take it with a grain of salt. And bottlenecks remain: the Indian market is valued at Rs 40 crore, and can only grow if operators provide open Internet access at low rates along with standardization of regulations, the story says.

Hey, I think this piece of news is crap. How can you guys quote unsubstantiated news??
Keep, in mind Contentsutra is used as reference material. I have seen many presentations with 'source' as Contentsutra..
seems like hungama mobile is getting ready for fund raising ..
mobile advertising platform http://www.zestadz.com delivers highly contextual and targeted advertisements on SMS and WAP.
ZestADZ (http://wwwZestADZ.com) is India’s leading mobile-ad network.
Hmm… 40 -> 500 crores.. i.e. YoY growth of 65%
As per my knwledge internation market for mobile marketing is currently valued at $ 1.7 B and it is supposed to be around $ 14 B in next 5 years i.e. a YoY growth of 50% around.
In the near future I do not see growth of mobile marketing surpassing international market growth rate. Still on a conservating side I'd say it should be around 300 crores.
Hungama is on road show currently
hi,
mobile advertising is at very early stages in India. there is still a long way to go.Rs 500 crore is way too much to predict. even the world's largest mobile advertising agency admob doesn predict such numbers from the mature markets.
companies like zestadz is still in very early stages . the products is still faulty and the server function of this company always goes down. as a content developer i have experienced such problems encountered by the company. as far as i know this company claims to have loads of advertisers when in truth they dont have hardly handful
i am not sure how mkhoj is working. but i am sure 500 cr is an exaggerated number
I have used mkhoj and I can tell you that there site always has issues and they claim that they target but their targeting does not work. I told them to do a campaign for non-LG phones and guess what … they served eveywhere without targeting plus their inventory is so low.
Ravi.,
I would be glad to help you out with any issues that you have faced with ZestADZ. It would be great if you can write an email to me to asif [at] mobile-worx.com instead of posting information on public forums.
We're growing in a small but promising industry and we're only as good as the industry, the revenues it generates.
Looking forward to hearing from you
best regards

Can anyone of you proivde a study or report on Indian Mobile Ad market and possibilties.
Cheers.
Lets see..Indian Advertising market is expected to be about USD10Bil in 2012 ie 5 years from now. one can argue at +/- 10% but it doesnt matter.
TV will be say 35% of that and print another 35%. Take radio, outdoor, direct marketing etc at another 15-18%. That leaves 12-15% between Internet & Mobile. Which is 1.5 Billion dollars.
Now the question is will it be on mobile or internet? Can it be on internet?
Since we are talking statistics, let me give one more…at the current level of USD 500Mln (again take +/- 20%) the mobile VAS market is already bigger than the Hindi General Entertainment market on TV.
Lots to do and lots out there…
Keep at it guys!!
