On todays’ ( 8/7/2011 ), version of WCBS TVs’ ” Face THe Nation “, commentator Bob Schieffer, opened, with a video clip of Pres. Obama. In that interview, shortly after his election as President, he pledged to accept responsibility for the status of the nation, as would exist, at the end of his four-year term. He obviously was overly optimistic , with high expectations of bipartisanism, within Congress and the Senate. This has not occured.
Mr Schieffer, suggested that Pres. Obama, should ‘ own-up ‘ to his promise and now accept total responsibility, for the continued failure, within both Houses, to successfully move towards bringing the affairs of the Nation, to order. That suggestion, would carry greater credibility, if Sen. Mitch McConnell and others, had not pledged from ‘ day-one ‘, to ensure that Pres. Obama becomes a ‘ one-term’ President.
In order, to portray a truly balanced image, of the intent of the questions posed , he ( Bob Schieffer ) should have opened the segment with Sen Lindsay Graham, by showing video clips of McConnell and others, promising to ensure Pres. Obamas’ failure.
These are formidable obstacles to overcome, particularly when one embarks on a mission, attempting to reverse decades of fiscal policies, which embraced and encouraged selfishness and greed ! !
Mr. Schieffer, ….. better is expected, of your wisdom !
