DailyCandy COO and GM Catherine Levene is leaving the Comcast-owned fashion and entertainment e-newsletter next month, becoming the second top exec to depart in recent weeks. Hearst Digital’s Beth Ellard will take her place. In May, eight months after Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA) bought DailyCandy for $125 million, Pete Sheinbaum left the company as CEO, saying he wanted to return to his startup roots. Levene, who was at shopping search engine TheFind in between DailyCandy and her seven-year stint in business development and strategy at the New York Times (NYSE: NYT) Digital, also said she wanted to work on startup ventures. She has been with the company for 2 1/2 years and was credited with helping structure the Comcast acquisition.
Levene will stay on through next month; Ellard is expected to take on the GM role in mid-July. A 15-year veteran of women’s media, Ellard has overseen the launch of Hearst mag sites like Cosmopolitan.com, MarieClaire.com, Redbookmag.com, seventeen.com and HarpersBazaar.com. Before that, Ellard was at Time Inc.
