Kelsie's viewpoint is valid... for 17 year olds.

Since Twitter users seem to skew older, and younger users just don't get it (wow, isn't that an intriguing idea) , well, don't market to them. Caveat - I haven't seen demographics on Twitter churn. I don't know the hard age range breakdowns, all I've seen is anecdotal stuff.

That being said, instead focus on the fact that you've created something actually rather interesting, a social networking tool that web savvy older users actually like.

kelsie viewpoint is valid.

In terms of social networking, most people I know that are 17 are using the SMS feature of Facebook and Twitter to them is a redundant one-trick pony.

Twitter better do something fast and I'm going to warn everybody around here - just because you sitting on $100 million in funding does not mean you cannot become obsolete or scooped by a competitor who do know what to do with your ideal...

I don't think it's so much that it's difficult to use but rather that to get the most out of it you do have to have some basic background -- like how to retweet or what a hashtag is.
