Foodie Blog Network FoodBuzz Raises $750K In Funding

Food-centric social network and blog aggregator FoodBuzz has raised $750K worth of a posed $1.25 million round of funding, according to an SEC filing. The S.F.-based startup did not immediately respond to our request for more info.
The FoodBuzz network attracts roughly 6.7 million unique monthly visits (per Quantcast); over 2,500 bloggers use it to distribute their content, with brands like Quaker, Contadina and Kikkoman running ads or custom content sponsorships. FoodBuzz has a myriad competitors, including big portals like *AOL* Food, Food Network and Epicurious.com, but noteworthy rivals in terms of unique presentation include foodie forum Chowhound, as well as Good Bite, the new video-blogger property from DECA.
This story misrepresents Quantcast's data. Foodbuzz's network might be 6.7 million, but that network could really just be Foodbuzz's marketing on other sites. No one can tell, because Foodbuzz hides "syndicators" from its network report. Its true traffic is probably closer to the 200K level listed at its core site, foodbuzz.com.

@this story The story clearly states that the Quantcast traffic is to FoodBuzz's network of over 2,5oo blogs. Which is similar to aggregated traffic stats from other blog networks like BlogHer, Glam, etc.
