I am using this app and it totally rocks. I think their biggest innovation is in how they mixed text and audio. Slick implementation.

@ Jake — I'm fascinated by the different approaches. I think use will be steered a lot by which programming you tend to listen to the most.

@ Marshall — My guess is you'll like the NPR app, too. They're both still in early stages so have a lot of development left to do. I think they'll learn a lot from the way these first versions are used.

Congratulations to NPR and BottleRocket – the company that built the app, it's really nicely done and should put NPR News where it belongs at the top of the news apps on the iPhone.

NPR is also a partner on the Public Radio Player along with American Public Media and PRI and although there is some clear overlap with these two apps and some to come, we agree there's more to be gained in developing multiple approaches to mobile access to public radio.

We are definitely aware of some performance issues with the first version of the Player and are working on a variety of improvements to address them – some in the new 2.01 release just this week- and other user feedback we've been getting over the last month.

Very curious to try this out and compare it with Public Radio Tuner. That app is awesome, but it does have some performance issues. It feels like most iPhone apps do, though. Either way, sounds like a great job here by NPR – they continue to rock!
