Industry Moves: Bill Demas Replaces Barnett As Turn CEO

Ad network and targeting firm Turn has promoted Bill Demas to CEO. Demas (pictured) joined the company last December as president and COO; he’d been a board member since 2007. Demas is replacing Turn co-founder Jim Barnett, who will continue on as chairman. Demas has over two decades of experience in online advertising, having served as head of Yahoo’s publisher network group, and a senior exec at Overture before *Yahoo* acquired it in 2003.
Turn has added a number of new execs to its ranks in the past few months: it brought in Tacoda vet Hugh McGoran to head sales, and *Yahoo* and Efficient Frontier exec Masroor Malik as VP of business operations. comScore (NSDQ: SCOR) ranked it as the fastest growing ad network in terms of reach in June. Release.
shocker! Do you mean that Jim wasn't doing a good job? You mean he decided to "spend time with him family" well before the liquidation event?
Does anyone believe that Chairman actually means something?
@jenkins I find that it truly varies from company to company. Some chairmen are engaged year round, some show up for board meetings and some check out. A lot depends on how much the board and the CEO want them to be involved, how much they want to be involved — and how the role is defined.
