Mobile roaming tech firm Roamware has acquired Macalla Software, an m-commerce and mobile banking provider based in Ireland. Financial terms were not disclosed; the Macalla team will continue to operate out of Dublin, but under the Roamware name.
Roamware’s list of global clients include brands like Telecom Italia and Vodafone; (NYSE: VOD) the Macalla acquisition adds a full suite of m-commerce tools, including prepaid minutes, peer-to-peer transactions and text-based banking to its roster of network extension products. The company says it will focus on bringing mobile banking and commerce services to under-served and low income communities in emerging markets. Release.
