See also (my new venture) http://fablistic.com. Social recommendations is a very interesting space - the next wave of commercial search imo. People looking for a product or service want a shortlist of recommendations, ideally from people they trust. Yelp and other sites are filled with recommendations from strangers. One recommendation from someone you trust is worth a dozen from strangers. I suspect that people also want their recommendations in one place, not scattered across a dozen different vertical sites.
