New Non-Profit Investigative News Network Hires Kevin Davis As CEO

Investigative News Network, a new news network formed by 32 non-profit news orgs aimed at public service journalism, has recruited digital vet Kevin Davis as its inaugural CEO. Davis till now was the COO of LA-based Hollywood trade site TheWrap; prior to that he was president and COO of Hollywood.com. Earlier in the decade, he held a series of high-level publishing positions at Variety Group, part of Reed. Davis will be based out of LA.
In addition, INN also announced that it received a new two-year, $200,000 grant from the Knight Foundation, to help kickstart the project. It also has funding from other sources such as philanthropist Buzz Woolley, the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, the McCormick Foundation, and others. INN was founded in July 2009, to bring together a bunch of non-profit news organizations, including The Center for Public Integrity, the Center for Investigative Reporting, the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University, and others. Currently there are 32 member organizations, including NPR, WNET.org and American Public Radio, making it sort of an uber ProPublica.
TheWrap, founded by journalist Sharon Waxman, is looking to hire a new COO.
