There is some article about how this platform or that platform is growing faster than Apple in the second quarter of each year. I would hope so if they are releasing a new phone every month or two and competing against Apple's almost a year old phone. Then we all know they are releasing one in June or July each year so many wait to purchase. I wonder why these electronic rags don't report on these findings during the other quarters? Because Apple is blowing them out of the water.

@U123:This is referring to market share - total phones sold in the time period. Androids market share growth rate in this period dependent on it's sales in this period, not it's previous sales. It's market share growth is indicating that more Android smartphones were introduced into the market than any other OS over this time period. I think you're confusing the rate of sales with the rate of change of sales rate. This chart and article is about velocity, you're being snarky about acceleration...

Google Android would have had higher growth rate, if it were selling even less phone in the previous months. Hope it is not a syndicated reporting :))

Android is replacing Rim at non-AT&T carriers at greatly alarming rate promising Android's passing rim in unit sales volume in less than 2 years. Rim's focus is in battling Nokia in low income countries. Between Android in the higher end and Nokia from the lower end, Rim is trying to carve out a mid-low market made up of people who are purely addicted to the Blackberry physical keyboard, nothing else. This is a crazy market. Until Nokia can make a physical keyboard that can sway these keyboard addicts, Rim would continue to reside in this 2% global market eeking out a small niche market.
