Will Microsoft Employees Ditch The iPhone For A Free Windows 7 Phone?

Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) tried to encourage employees to buy their own products when they instituted a policy that said only those who use Windows Phones will reimbursed for the monthly cellphone data plan. Now they are trying it Google’s way and giving all employees a Windows 7 Phone when they come out later this year.
Despite the reimbursement strategy, you can observe on campus any day of the week and see Microsoft employees pinching and zooming on the competitors’ product. Call it research if you want, but frankly even Microsoft’s own employees weren’t willing to drink the cool-aid.
Giving away free devices is Microsoft’s best shot at changing that mindset both internally and externally. Google (NSDQ: GOOG) has been very proactive in providing free devices to not only their own employees (for a gift on two occasions), but to developers as well. By getting the handsets into a larger population, Google hoped to encourage its tech-savvy employee base to build apps for its Android platform in their spare time, and to think “mobile first” no matter what division they worked in. UPDATE: A spokesman replied to a request for comment, and said: “While specific details are still being finalized, we have announced that a new Windows Phone 7 will be made available to every Microsoft employee as we launch in each market around the world. We
Why couldn’t the story just be that they are giving them free phones. You know “The Facts” why do you feel the need to add sensationalism to the story.
And MS doesn’t pay for employee’s data plans, regardless of phone, either (unless perhaps you are in sales)
Not really sure who is drinking the cool-aid here?! I’m actually one who cannot wait to get my hands on the new Windows phone, and ditch my iPhone!! if you want to run a story like this, at least have some data points to backup your claims. Makes sense right?
this is a worthless article… Can the author be more biased against Microsoft? It’s totally uncalled for having this kind of sentiment against a company who has been doing well forthe past 30 years! What has the author accomplished in his/her life?
Sour grapes???
:-) I am not even yet sure what do you want to say here by writing this article?? OK Let’s be straight IF ANY Company can do this ….. then it has to be MS Or Google (No One else has this potential t0 do such stuff) what I mean is give away free stuff and tht too GEM like WP7. I am just ready to be in line to purchase it….!! I really don’t case what apple & Android are gonna produce next- PERIOD
