Android is a software while blackberry is a hardware. sure Bberry also uses its own operating system, but will Apple, HTC etc use their rivals OS?
ofcourse not.
So Android vs Bberry is actually HTC, Samsung, Motorola(and in future probably Nokia) vs Blackbberry.

Nielsen’s data is based on the last 6 months while NPD’s is for Q2 only. It is plausible that both stats are actually correct and NPD’s is just more up to date.
