Shortly after buying Bebo from AOL (NYSE: AOL), Criterion Capital Partners managing partner Adam Levin told us that the social network would be “staffing up” and that’s indeed what it’s doing. Bebo has hired Akash Garg, a co-founder and former CTO of social network Hi5, as its new CTO, and Aren Sandersen, a former director of engineering at classified site Oodle, as VP of operations.

In a short interview, Garg, who left Hi5 last summer, said he had been working with Sandersen on “some startup ideas” prior to deciding to join Bebo — and that he was now thinking of Bebo “as a startup.”

“We’re [going to be] working super fast on new features and iterations,” he said. Levin outlined some of the areas that Bebo was planning to concentrate on — including mobile — in this interview with my colleague Robert Andrews last month.

  1. i have been a member of bebo since January 2008. In June with rumors of selling bebo users information i hesitated but did delete my account. Since the start of August i have contacted bebo in many ways including “contact us” backstage bebo moderators and even e-mail to get my account back. I was told it would be sorted during the weekend last by one of the moderators. I have heard nothing since 26th July. I feel bebo should offer a way to re-activate profiles for users so not to be waiting for bebo to do it . I’m defiantly not happy with bebo customer service

  3. ya but they also don’t mind activating accounts. If you go to the contact us page which i did the is a link get back my account. My friend re activated hers before which gave me the idea, but apparently bebo don’t have a support team at the moment due to a office move but I’m not to pushed anymore i’m happy with faebook :)
