Nokia said it is shutting down a beta application that aggregated a number of social networking communities, including Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Messaging for Social Networks Beta is no longer listed as an active trial, and the forums will no longer be monitored by Nokia (NYSE: NOK). The application had received a three out of five star rating and 73 reviews, many of which complained of bugs and the need for additional improvements.
Nokia says some of the features of the application will be integrated into the Symbian^3 release, beginning with Nokia N8. The new operating system release will include the ability to integrate your social networking contacts into your phone’s address book; view your latest updates from Facebook and Twitter in one place; and share your current location with your social networks. Since the application is no longer available, Nokia recommends that users download another version of the Facebook client from the Ovi Store.
