Former AOL (NYSE: AOL) content head Bill Wilson is joining local media network Townsquare Media. Wilson left AOL in May after CEO Tim Armstrong tapped his ex-Google (NSDQ: GOOG) colleague David Eun to run content at the company. Wilson, one of the architects of AOL’s previous content strategy, told paidContent that he spent the summer evaluating a number of media companies as he considered his next step and he said, “This is the one I was most excited about given the assets of the company,” which include 171 radio stations in 36 markets.
Wilson will take on the roles of EVP and chief digital officer, a newly created position. As he did at AOL, Wilson will chart Townsquare’s digital media strategy. He will report to Townsquare Media
