This year, U.S. mobile ad spending will reach $743 million, revised up from previous estimates of only $593 million, according to eMarketer, which characterized mobile as receiving the “stamp of legitimacy” and reaching the mainstream of digital advertising this year. In 2011, it now expects the market to soar by double-digit rates to $1.1 billion. In 2014, the market could reach $2.5 billion.
The figures make sense if you consider that Google said last week that its annualized revenues now total $1 billion, which is only one provider, but also includes international revenues.
