Independent.co.uk enjoyed the biggest month-on-month rise in average daily browsers among national newspaper websites in September, while guardian.co.uk topped 2 million on the same metric for the first time. However, Mail Online remained the UK’s most visited newspaper site in September, in both daily average browsers and monthly users, for the ninth month running, according to the latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic published today.
Independent.co.uk increased its daily average browsers by 12.9% from August to 553,593, overtaking Mirror Group Digital.
Guardian.co.uk remains the second most popular site and recorded an all-time high of 2,038,493 average daily browsers, up 5% from August and 16.2% year on year.
Mail Online had an average of 2,670,371 daily browsers and 46,910,754 users in total last month. The figures were up 4.6% and 3% from August, respectively. Mail Online’s daily average browsers are up by 50% year-on-year.
Telegraph.co.uk saw a 0.7% dip in daily traffic from August to 1,669,773 daily browsers, with year-on-year figures up 2.7%.
Mirror Group Digital’s average daily browser figure grew 5.3% to 525,914, up 23% from September 2009.
