I think the idea is to put the DTV receptor into mobile handsets rather than some other dedicated device, and people do upgrade/replace their handsets often enough so you can imagine dissemination of the terminals in that sense, but if you consider how long it's taken for handset makers to come around to/act on the idea of NFC in phones, I'm just wondering how easy it really will be to get those ODMs/OEMs to put those DTV chips in there.

Also, if these co's are *really* serious about trying to give DTV a go, they will need to come up with significant other use cases besides their own local stations rebroadcast on mobile (eg using the format to deliver other kinds of data to the device). That's my two cents anyway.

long on wind while short on details.

who is going to rush out to buy a new handset just because it might get local tv? i think streaming would do just fine without the need for additional hardware.

this whole idea seems like a foolish waste of time/bandwidth that's why i encourage all the station groups mentioned to invest heavily in it so they fall that much FARTHER behind.

like the ceo of one of the station groups above said in his address to the choir the other day- "we are watching the rebirth of media worldwide". yeah, may i remind everyone about what president kennedy also said- "there are three types of people in this world; those that MAKE things happen, those that WATCH things happen, and those that say "WHAT HAPPENED?""

go for it, guys!
