Yes the stats are skewed and twisted to favour iphone
Here are the stats based on new phone/new OS - as a measure of initial market acceptance

Iphone averaged 20,000 phones per day (4m over 200 days)

(Note the below is for N8 shipping from Oct 1st to Dec 31st 2.5 m so this figure is actually low)

N8 will average 27,173 phones per day

a Far better initial start and with a lot more competition.

Look there are a lot of vested interests / religious phone fanatics mostly just Damn liers lining their pockets.
Any sane person would look at the above and say " Hey it looks like the N8 is doing just as well or maybe better than the iphone did initially"

I purchased an N8 from Amazon while it was selling for 427.00. I have used it for a couple weeks now and unfortunately I am sending it back. It's not a bad phone but it's just not a WOW phone. It's ok but I think I'll stick with my N86 for now. I want something more in a touch phone. Not sure what that something is just yet but I'll know it when I see it.

The iPhone sold 4 million in it's first 200 days it was on the market. If you are going to have to compare this to the iPhone (which is ridiculous to begin with), that would be the only valid metric to compare it against and even then, for every iphone apple sells nokia already sells 2 smartphones so duh..

Those speaking about 'software' are the old PC and internet companies that already were late to this game, remember? They don't even know how to make a phone why do you think Nokia batteries last longer for example? That's hardware too I suppose?

Nokia Rulez!

"Not a great stat if you’re a Windows or Nokia (NYSE: NOK) fan in the Old World and are hoping for some momentum behind your favorite platform: in Europe neither is selling very well."

N8 IS selling very well!! N8 will sell even better in December since previously Nokia couldn't meet the demand.

I hope also W7 will do well. All pointless hype around iPhone is starting to irritate...

@Jyxtapox I would really like to believe your post, but do you have any proof?

Additionally, I'm concerned about the lack of software on OVI - lack of HD games, and a general lack of much new software on a daily basis. Consumers want applications, but Symbian just isn't delivering, even though they've improved their dev tools signficantly. The N8 may be great hardware but a smartphone these days needs software.

This is baseless comparison. Even if iphone sells more than N8, it is not a fair comparison.
Why?
Because Nokia sells more than several models. iphone just 2 or 3 at max.

more you use nokia n8
more features are explored

more you use iphone
more applications are explored

I think N8 is selling much better than it originally was estimated by Nokia!!

The biggest problem, so far, has been to produce enough devices for the global market. There has not been enough N8:s even for Nokia's home market in Finland (with only 5 million inhabitants). I would not either be so worried about how N8 is selling next year. Nokia has other new Symbian^3 devices already starting to sell before christmas, i.e. C6-01, C7 and also E7. More will be released early next year.

The real Nokia competitors to iPhone will run on MeeGo!! Next year Nokia will be back with really competitive high-end MeeGo devices!

I personally think N8 is a better phone (and clearly worth the money) than iPhone, but that's my opinion.
