34. ReachLocal

U.S. 2010 digital revenue: $290 million
Snapshot: ReachLocal offers a suite of services — including search-engine marketing, display advertising and analytics — aimed at small businesses that want to target potential customers online. The company also launched tools last year to help small businesses communicate with their customers and create online profiles that they could then migrate to local directory and social media sites. It has benefited hugely from the growing number of small businesses advertising online, but until last month, when it purchased DealOn, it didn’t have a presence in the market’s hottest segment: daily deals.
Key digital move in 2010: The company went public in June, raising $54 million.
How we generated our estimate: ReachLocal is publicly traded.
