He’s essentially saying that he’s anticipating the phone. That doesn’t mean that he knows when it will be released. More likely, in posting projected figures, he wanted to be able to say “Hey, we’re going to make a bunch of money” and with everybody clamoring for a new iPhone, this seemed a good justification. CFO’s are in the business of fluffing numbers.

I’ve covered companies that worked with Apple that refused to say anything even off the record about an Apple product because they were so freaked out about reprisals.

There are too many ways you could interpret and explain that phrase “global device”. Also, isn’t already a given that the iphone 5 will work on both types of networks? Tis but a small cup of beans to spill at best, methinks.
