Talk about burying the lede . . . :

"The bill appears to have widespread support in Congress, and was passed unanimously out of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The entertainment industry is the biggest supporter of this measure, but it’s also been praised by software industry trade groups and by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce."

We get that Wyden and Lofgren are the kooky and offbeat side to this story, but the real news is the unanimous support in the committee, and the broad-based multi-industry support. Even Microsoft came out for it yesterday: http://blogs.technet.com/b/microsoft_on_the_issues/archive/2011/05/25/microsoft-offers-its-support-for-the-protect-ip-act.aspx .

Sure, the parlimentary trickery is unusual and a little dog-bites-man, but it's obviously not the big story here.
