What a non-news story!! We are not talking about all phones, here, but Smartphones. Of course Nokia's market share is dropping. They are using the lousy Symbian OS. And not just that, but Nokia has stated plainly that they are dropping Symbian. They will replace it with an OS from MSFT in the fall. So they currently offer no smartphone running an OS that will exist in two years. Zero.

What would you expect to happen to their smartphone sales numbers if the only smartphones they sell are practically obsolete, by their own admission??

Also, the smartphone market has many, many years of growth ahead of it, as the tech laggards as well as the numerous developing nations begin to upgrade their phones to smartphones, too.

Great calls Nomura. One obvious, and one wrong.
