Since Android is only copying iPhone anyway, it's pretty simple to then just do one little geeky feature and have the fandoids think, "Wow, innovative" when you all just take the iPhone you wholesale copied and run with it. Not having to figure out how to do anything, and having uncritical fanboys who will love anthing so long as there is no 'evil' apple logo on it frees one to futz around with something stupid and trivial like 'home automation'. As if, iPhone doesn't have these capabilities. You are dreaming.

But, don't sweat the details… Android is where the real 'idea guys' live, right? LOL

Oh, please. Notifications? Android has nothing, and wouldn't even exist if not for iPhone and Schmidt's underhanded stealing of all of Apple's iPhone ideas. Android can't compete with iPhone, and there is no real CHOICE between Android's various clunky devices. They are all Android just like all iPhones are iPhones. The difference is that iPhone is a real ecosystem, and Android is just a mishmash of wannabe iPhones.

I am amazed at this thread. Why do so many people want to see Google fail? Because you're agenda is to force all other products out of the market, so we can all be brainless automatons and use Apple iPhones? Great idea, because everyone knows the benefits of having no choice in the marketplace.

In fact the western economy is based on market competition. If you want an economy where there is no choice, go and live in North Korea. And if you think Android is inferior, think about this: the only reason Apple just included a notifications system and wireless syncing is because it was done on Android years ago. Even iPhone users are reaping the benefits of having Android around.

And all because you want to believe your 'phone' is the best. You didn't invent it. Grow up.

Funny, I don't see anybody claiming that Apple needs a free ride on others' patents just so it can survive. They are the most visible target for patent trolls, dropping another $8MM in a settlement Friday. They pay uncounted more in licensing or suits to others. And yet, they managed to come up with the first user-friendly smartphone, the first successful tablet and many other innovations. (Not to mention a host of patents.)

If I were Google, I would NOT want to advertise how crummy a deal it is to be an Android partner. Motorola Mobility just got an unprecedented tax break from Illinois: threatening to leave, the state granted them exemption from paying employee state tax withheld. This because normally tax breaks are against corporate income, but MMI is losing so much money that the normal tax break wouldn't do them any good.

And now we have this orchestrated whining that Google can't afford to pay when it uses others' inventions. Next, perhaps paying Federal taxes would be too onerous, and they should be excused so that they can keep innovating?

So just how is it that all of Google's competitors pay IBM, Microsoft, Nortel, the GSM and CDMA working groups, Apple, Lodsys, and Google somehow deserves a free pass so it can take over all its competition? That makes exactly zero sense.
