Nice
read! You're right about this new Blockbuster
Movie Pass
not directly being aimed at Netflix right now but I definitely see it going
further into competition with them when the plan for non-DISH subscribers
finally makes it way in the future. Till then as a subscriber/employee of DISH
Network myself, I really am loving the idea of this and am really excited to
try it out this upcoming October 1st! Now with my DISH services joining with
Blockbuster I know I'm getting the most extensive library of movies, games and
TV shows available anywhere! Check out all the details http://bit.ly/qUW2AL. :)

All good points. The headline, written at the beginning of the call, has since been tweaked and updated; As the press conference got started, Joe Clayton made a number of implied references to Netflix's recent troubles, so initially, it sounded like the expectations of challenge to established streaming services might be an option.
"Aimed Squarely At Netflix" huh... how do you jump to that conclusion, unless you have a lazy eye! Netflix is only about streaming.... For Dish's service you have to be Dish subscriber and then figure out how to get internet service because Dish ain't giving you internet, which is required for streaming!!!

This is good for competition, but this does not seem like something that Dish is doing to directly compete with Netflix. It just looks like something they are doing to get more people to use dish network in general to compete with direct tv, comcast, and other cable/satellite providers. Slingbox integration is great, sucks you have to buy the app too. However, with this netflix style feature they seem more appealing than other providers. I would say more because the the dvd by mail feature. This may not spur away people from netflix, but it may get people to consider going with the streaming only option with it then having dish as the satellite and internet provider. Maybe this is not true, but it still doesn't look like direct competition with Netflix since you have to already have dish to use the service.
