These analysis are always short lived, are't they? Every next day a new app comes up and the analysis changes. The best apps are always simple, easy to understand and to use.

https://apps.facebook.com/toostep/?ref=bookmarks&fb_source=bookmarks_apps&fb_bmpos=1_ what can you say about this app?

Hi Robert, great analysis. It's cool to see AppData being used in this way.

I just have a quick clarification to add. As we say in the Emerging post every week, we are strictly showing smaller apps that have ended the past seven days with between 100,000 and 1 million monthly active users.

This parameter, while somewhat arbitrary, has helped us catch interesting apps right when they start growing. It's not intended to show apps like Spotify, that have appeared on the emerging MAU list before but have since grown too large to qualify.

In general, this list is intended to complement our Monday post that looks at the 20 apps that grew by the most monthly active users across Facebook overall, as well as our Wednesday post that looks at the 20 apps that grew by the most daily active users overall. You're absolutely right that DAU is the key metric for many apps. However, when a smaller app is first starting to grow, the DAU trend is unclear because of the proportionally large influx of new users every day. That's why we stick to MAU for the emerging category. Best,Eric
