As a new writer, it all looked very promising at first. The lending library might be a great tool for some, but for me it proved to be a disappointment. With so many writers out there competing for the spotlight, I actually ended up with only one borrow. I fell for the free promotion days hook, line, and sinker. As a marketing tool for Amazon, the lending library as well as the direct publishing outlet worked for the company and not for the author. I estimate that the number of books that were given away in the free program would have netted me about $3500 in royalties. Instead, I only made about $2.70.
