After all a very small % provide both. We use review before and provide feedback after. What 45sec is trying to do is increase the amount of feedback, so businesses get better.

However this move can also be viewed as 1) Google trying to lure more people into using their Google + system and 2) Google trying to compete with Facebook business pages.

My opinion of Yelp is the same. While not perfect I would much rather read reviews by seasoned critics like those in the Michelin Guides. This isn’t to say that there aren’t be accurate reviews on Zagat and Yelp. There’s just no way to decern which ones they are.

Zagat has been an underutilized national treasure. They invented “crowdsourced curated data” years before Wikipedia or any of the others. Google bought it but did absolutely nothing with it, until now. This is the right move! I’ve been a paying Zagat member for years and have suffered through the mediocre Android app (oh, the irony) and before that the horrendous BlackBerry app.
