Yes, Smashwords distributes their eBooks through Apple, B&N, Kobo, Diesel, Baker-Taylor, etc. but not to Amazon. Not yet, anyway…

The reader is increasingly in charge of the supply chain, and that is a good thing. The very forces that brought about the surge in all book publishing when paperbacks were first introduced (the ’50s) is repeating itself here. Bravo to Amazon. I think the questions concerning KDP Select are going to be critical issues. That needs to be clarified as quickly as possible, or a lot of authors will find themselves in an untenable position.
