realjjj, House of Cards is a solid show with potential. Spacey's performance was great and the writing was good. But House of Cards doesn't have Mitch Hurwitz and last time I checked Cross is a harsh critic of bullshit. If he thought the show was a pathetic cough of the past he wouldn't have said it.

I cut the Tv cord over a year ago. Netflix is my goto service along with Amazon and the antenna. House of Cards is a great show. I applaud Netflix for making the cable "dinosaurs" sit up and take notice. The content studios better take notice as well

I cut the cord about 20 years ago and have gone from not really watching any thing to snowy reception to renting tapes to renting disks on Netflix back when they only had one distribution center to the streaming service. Netflix developing their own content is great, and more power to them! Their streaming library can be a little sad resembling the direct-to-video bowells of a Blockbuster store, and their search function could be improved particularly on the Roku, but I still find stuff to watch. Netflix producing their own programs is a nice bonus to the service. It's 8 bucks a month - what's not to like?

I agree. In a day when more and more people are cutting the cable TV umbilicus for more customizable platforms, exclusive content like Netflix's Arrested Development gives people just one more reason to sharpen their scissors.

I think a problem Netflix has yet to confront is how to exploit the content in the same way AMC gets another hour of programming from The Walking Dead with The Talking Dead. Granted, there revenue models are very different, but I think there is a lack of imagination if this is the best they can do.

Most problems with Netflix are content related. There is not a whole lot they can to do about it ... except this. I didnt watch House of Cards - yet. My wife did. She loved it and loved being able to binge watch it. So did a guy I know.

I think this is great for 2 reasons. A new type of content (or at least in a place it will work) and new content that Netflix doesn't have to fight other media companies over.
