ABC.com Expands Full-Episode Player To Daytime; Adds ‘The View’ and ‘General Hospital’
Starting today, ABC.com is expanding its full-episode player to daytime programming with talk show The View and long-running soap General Hospital. The five most recent episodes of each will be available—The View episode at 3 p.m. ET the same day it premieres, General Hospital at 5 a.m. ET the morning after an episode first airs on ABC. General Hospital is a little trickier because the show is already repurposed on ABC’s cable network SOAPnet, where it airs several times in the first 24 hours after premiering on the broadcast net. SOAPnet.com users can access the player from there. ABC.com already offers some 15 primetime shows but this is the first dedicated full-episode foray into daytime. Just as SOAPnet became a DVR of sorts for soap fans—miss All My Children live and you get multiple shots at it without setting a timer or you can get all the episodes at once over the weekend—the VOD player offers another DVR substitute and, with embedded advertising that can’t be forwarded through, a better chance for its ads actually to reach viewers.

I am writing concerning AMC soap opera. It used to be so good, so real, and now its awful. Where are Lily, Jonathan, and Jack’s nephew. You take people off like they never existed. And the Annie & Greenlee thing is pathetic. We figure you will have another death and the heart will go to Kendall. Well let me tell you some truth about brain injury. I know it happened to my nephew. Once you have a severe injury, the next time will surely kill you. My info. comes from Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa. Please get back to normal, real life episodes. We are sick of the ones on now. Thanks for listning. Jan.
