Adgent Raises $5.3 Million First Round To Localize Online Ads

Missed this from a couple weeks ago… Ad firm Adgent has raised a $5.3 million first round from CM Capital. The SF-based company targets foreign publishers to help them serve ads that are relevant to local readers. So, for example, a US-based reader reading a UK-based site would not see ads targeting the UK market, but ones that are more geographically relevant. The company has created its own ad marketplace and it also offers publishers its ad sales force.CEO Cameron Yuill was previously at Cendant, where he helped build out its ad network Partner Marketing. How does a guy raise 5.3 million a day after filing chapter 7 in Illinois on a company called Signature Days.com, what a slime bag.
