Adobe To Cut Nine Percent Of Its Workforce On Top Of Layoffs At Omniture
Adobe (NSDQ: ADBE) is going through its second round of layoffs in a year. In an SEC filing, the company says it will cut 680 jobs worldwide, or about nine percent of its workforce. A spokeswoman tells us the company is “restructuring its business to align costs with its fiscal 2010 operating plan and budget, the company’s three-year strategic priorities and the realities of the business environment, as well as to ensure its ability to continue investing in long-term growth opportunities.” The company had already cut 600 jobs, or about eight percent of its employees, in December, citing the economic slowdown. This round of cuts will result in between $65 million and $71 million in pre-tax restructuring charges.

These layoffs are in addition to jobs the company has cut at Omniture (NSDQ: OMTR), which it acquired last month. Adobe cut about nine percent of Omniture’s workforce—or just over 100 jobs—when the deal closed in late October, the spokeswoman says.
