Akamai Acquires Mobile Content Platform Velocitude
Content delivery manager Akamai Technologies is pushing further into mobile with its purchase of Velocitude, a company that uses the cloud to deliver mobile content. Akamai (NSDQ: AKAM) already has a range of cloud services for running content systems, as well as the delivery of HD video and e-commerce to mobile devices. The addition of Cambridge, MA.-based Velocitude means that it will be able to improve the quality of the how its clients’ sites and apps look on smartphones and other portable devices.
