Akamai Acquires Mobile Content Platform Velocitude

Content delivery manager Akamai Technologies is pushing further into mobile with its purchase of Velocitude, a company that uses the cloud to deliver mobile content. Akamai (NSDQ: AKAM) already has a range of cloud services for running content systems, as well as the delivery of HD video and e-commerce to mobile devices. The addition of Cambridge, MA.-based Velocitude means that it will be able to improve the quality of the how its clients’ sites and apps look on smartphones and other portable devices. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Release
