Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) is now confirming that it has indeed purchased music site LaLa. The company tells multiple outlets, including CNET and IDG News Service, that it has bought the startup. No details on price or on what Apple plans to do with the site, which lets users stream songs and also upload their tracks online so that they can play them from anywhere. The confirmation, however, follows multiple reports on Friday that Apple was in discussions to buy LaLa, possibly to fend off a potential challenge to its iTunes pay-to-download store.
