RollCall Buys CQ

As expected, the deal was announced this morning: RollCall, part of The Economist Group, has bought Congressional Quarterly from the Times Publishing Company. Financial details were not disclosed. As a result of this, the new company will be called the CQ-Roll Call Group.  Laurie Battaglia, Managing Director and EVP of Roll Call Group, will become the executive leader of the new company. Robert Merry, President and Editor-in-Chief of CQ for the past 12 years, will be leaving with this merger. Roll Call, founded in 1955 and acquired by the Economist Group in 1992; CQ was founded in 1945. The Jordan, Edmiston Group was the banker from CQ’s side. More in release and our story yesterday.
