More TV shows, movies and online series coming to the PlayStation Network, as talks between Nintendo and Netflix (NSDQ: NFLX) reportedly heat up ... Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has inked deals with six new content providers—including Lucasfilm Ltd.—that will add to its growing lineup of video content accessible through the PS3 and the portable PSP. New series include the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars, seasons one and two of TNT’s crime drama Leverage, as well as Joss Whedon’s Emmy-winning web series, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Sony (NYSE: SNE) announced a new deal with Netflix to bring its streaming movie service to the PS3, last week.

The PlayStation Network news comes amid multiple reports (via Fudzilla and the BusinessofVideo.com) that Nintendo and Netflix have already hammered out a deal to bring streaming movies to the Wii; the theory is that the companies will wait until the release of the HD Wii in 2010 to announce. Meanwhile, in a research note tied to the PS3/Netflix news, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter forecasted that Netflix movies will be available on the Wii within “the next 12 months.” New console deals are a boon for Netflix, which has seen a huge uptick in its streaming business as a result of its first partnership with Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
