SF-based Bleacher Report, a site for user-gen sports commentary, has raised an unspecified first round led by Hillsven Ventures. Other backers include Transcoast Capital, Jakob Lodwick (Vimeo) and other Silicon Valley executives. The site, which is officially coming out of beta today, claims 400,000 monthly unique visitors and 2,000 original posts in the last month. Essentially, it’s a blogging platform built around sports, with the pitch that it’s better than starting an independent sports blog, because there’s a built in audience on the site. It also offers filters and peer editing in an attempt to improve the quality of the content. Funding will go towards adding more features to the site. Release.
