Bloomberg Kills BusinessWeek’s SmallBiz

As BusinessWeek’s first issue under Bloomberg is prepared to hit the newsstands, the magazine’s bimonthly sibling, SmallBiz, will no longer be published. The six-year-old mag will live on through BusinessWeek.com’s Small Business Channel.  The final issue of SmallBiz will be the December 2009/January 2010 edition. The closing of SmallBiz isn’t much of a surprise, especially in light of Time Inc’s shuttering of Fortune Small Business earlier last month. Release

BusinessWeek already cut 100 staffers—including small business staffer Amy Choi—before officially transitioning from McGraw-Hill (NYSE: MHP) to Bloomberg this past week. Since SmallBiz didn’t have any dedicated staff separate from BusinessWeek, no further layoffs are expected, Mediaweek reported.
