Boxee Links Up With D-Link To Launch The First ‘Boxee Box’
Amid a slew of new features and an interface upgrade, Boxee unveiled its biggest news: the manufacturing company behind the first iteration of its branded set-top box. The streaming media browser partnered with network and data device-maker D-Link to develop the Boxee Box. Boxee announced that it had struck a non-exclusive deal with a manufacturing partner a few weeks ago.

The company plans to start shipping the D-Link Boxee Box in the second quarter of 2010; it will retail for about $200. It’s a black cube with two USB ports, WIFI and wired internet connectivity, 1080p HD video support, as well as high-quality audio. The one thing the Boxee Box lacks is internal storage; as the LAT reports, the only option is a removable memory card. That’s fine, because Boxee’s goal is to get people to stream their content anyway—not download or store it.
