We mentioned an earlier closing of this round, but the amount was lower then: now Tel Aviv-based SemantiNet, a semantic web startup focused on developing tools for better Web browsing, has raised $3.4 million in its first round of funding. The company’s product hasn’t launched yet but promises on later this month. The round was led by Giza Ventures, and also includes ICQ founder Yossi Vardi, Jeff Pulver, Sir Ronald Cohen, Robert Imershein and Mordechai Ben-Shach. It is developing a browser-based plugin tool that will be “dynamically discovering, integrating and providing easy access to personally-relevant content on the pages you view,” says the company, whatever that means..some more details here. Companies including Flock and others plugins for Firefox and others have been trying that for a while.
