Burnett Brings MTV And Yahoo To The Movies With New User-Gen Heavy Site
Reality show king Mark Burnett is certainly solidifying his producer credits in the online realm lately. In addition to his work linking TV shows and websites, as in the case of the CBS show Rockstar on MSN, or more recent ventures like AOL’s Gold Rush broadband game show, Burnett is now behind a partnership between MTV and Yahoo on a new interactive movie site launching next month. The site will be situated within Yahoo Movies and gets its starting off point with MTV’s 2007 Movie Awards On Yahoo. Aside from its ties to the June 3rd awards show broadcast, the site, which is set to go live April 23rd, will also feature a series of user-generated content. MTV is teaming with Yahoo and Burnett, who is producing the broadcast as well, with the goal of surpassing results for the 2006 movie awards, when the site delivered over 2 million streams (up over 50 percent from the year before).
